One of our main goals is to enhance the quality of health care our patients receive as well as to provide a conducive environment for supporting our company’s mission to achieve high quality clinical research results across various disease states.
Cyn3rgy collaborates with local and statewide medical associations, and various community outreach initiatives. We assist with new program implementations, statewide, regionally and nationally. Meet the Team
Curt A. Heiting, B.B.A., President
President, Co-founder, Partner and Managing Research Director of Cyn3rgy Research, Curt is responsible for the business operations, financial performance, marketing and compliance of the company along with setting strategic direction. Prior to Co-Founding Cyn3rgy Research, Curt spent 20+ years in the pharmaceutical sector, accumulated through his tenure with Pfizer, Merck and Bristol Myers Squibb. Curt strives to cultivate direct involvement in the clinical development of both therapeutic and medical devices that address medical needs not currently being met. Curt’s primary role, is to manage complex operational and regulatory aspects of Cyn3rgy Research’s diverse clinical trial portfolio, from assessment of site capacity to overall coordination of clinical data management. Curt’s broad variety of firsthand experience gives him an extraordinary perception of the entire clinical process as seen from the sides of the client, the funder, and the manufacturer. Curt holds a B.B.A. in Marketing. |
Frank Calcagno, MD, Medical Director, Primary Investigator
Dr. Frank Calcagno is Medical Director, Partner and Co-Founder of Cyn3rgy Research. An Oregon native, he earned his M.D. degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland and completed residency in Pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, California. Dr. Frank Calcagno has been involved in clinical research for over 15 years, including owning a prior research company and as an investigator for a large firm. He has also participated on several panels for world-wide pharmaceutical companies and served as a medical monitor at the national level. Dr. Frank Calcagno has been a consulting and advising Pediatrician for a parenting website, has appeared on a Discovery Channel program, and has served as director on the Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Executive Committee Board as Chair of the Pediatrics and OB/GYN department. In his research efforts, Dr. Calcagno aims to better understand underlying chronic and acute childhood diseases in order to improve clinical management and preventative measures. |
Katherine Swearingin, MD, Sub-Investigator
Dr. Katherine Swearingin is a board certified pediatrician, and an active Sub-Investigator at Cyn3rgy Research. Dr. Swearingin attended the Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. She completed her residency in 2014 at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Ohio. Dr. Swearingin first practiced in Ohio before moving back to her home state of Oregon in 2017. She has an interest in sports medicine and musculoskeletal injuries and healing. Dr. Swearingin also has a special interest in newborn medicine and takes joy in helping first-time parents in their newest endeavor. Sydmarie Bisenius, ND, Sub-Investigator
Dr. Sydmarie Bisenius is a board certified primary care naturopathic physician, and acting Sub-Investigator at Cyn3rgy Research. Dr. Bisenius grew up in Maryland and Louisiana and obtained her medical training at the National College of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon with a residency in Seattle, Washington. She is a general care practitioner, with a focus in pediatric development, behavior and gastrointestinal health. Dr. Bisenius blends naturopathic principles with cutting-edge research to provide high quality, effective primary care for her patients. Dr. Bisenius has several years of experience as a Sub-Investigator on a variety of clinical trial indications, and is an integral contributor of the Cyn3rgy team. |
Allie Calaman, B.A., Psychology and Spanish with a Minor in Neuroscience, Clinical Research Coordinator
Allie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and Spanish with a minor in neuroscience from the University of Portland. Her primary interests are in making medical treatment attainable and understandable for all populations through patient advocacy. Since graduation, she has worked as a medical scribe/assistant in multiple specialties including rheumatology, ophthalmology, and vascular procedures. Allie has prior academic research experience looking at ADHD, cultural perceptions of aging, and children's perceptions about race and gender. Allie is strongly motivated to deliver healthcare with empathy and understanding; she hopes to continue to do so within the field of clinical research. In her free time, Allie likes to climb mountains and explore Oregon's coffee shops. |
Danielle Reinke, B.S., Research Manager
Danielle is a Community Health graduate from Western Oregon University with a Bachelors of Science. Danielle is inspired by public health and its foundation for facilitating change on both individual and community levels. Danielle has direct patient care experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a skilled nursing setting. She is passionate about playing an essential role in the delivery of healthcare and her educational and professional experiences fuel her desire to continue helping individuals navigate healthy decisions and create healthier lifestyles. |
